Before Illustration and Design, Dalouny Phonevilay completed the Studio Arts program at Dawson where she painted numerous types of landscapes. Her growing interest in creating environments carried throughout the years. She has always loved every form of art from music to theatre but especially cinema. That is where her love for concept art blossomed. She brings a fantastic atmosphere to a scene by the help of her strong composition, colour palette and bright light accents. Part of her art style can be described by the use of exaggerated high and low points of views in order to accentuate dynamic framing. The steps of formation for the visual aspects in film is what fascinated her the most such as storyboards, concept art and matte painting to name a few. However, her love for illustration does not stop at the art of cinema and environments as she is developing into being a more versatile artist. She desires to work and explore every field of illustration such as children’s book, album covers, video games, posters, creature design, character design and the list goes on.
